Decatur support personnel support DFTA walkout

DECATUR – The following quote can be attributed to Decatur Educational Support Personnel Association President Dawn Clark:

“The Decatur Educational Support Personnel Association wants the Decatur Federation of Teaching Assistants to know we have their backs in their fight for a fair contract. We see each and every day DFTA members get bitten and bruised as they care for some of the most vulnerable students in our district. They should have access to affordable health care and we support them in their fight to do so. This is not a battle they are fighting just for themselves, but for Decatur Public Schools, as a whole. When we have high-quality workers who stay in their positions for long periods of time, students win, schools win, Decatur wins. This should be our ultimate goal.”

DFTA is expected to go on strike starting Tues., Oct. 29.
