Red for Ed is a grassroots movement of educators and supporters of public education who are advocating for increased public funding for education and better pay and benefits for teachers and other school staff. Red for Ed is a nationwide movement that began in 2018, but it has become increasingly visible and influential as teachers and their allies have held events, walkouts, rallies, and demonstrations demanding better funding for their schools.

The IEA Committee to Advance Public Education (CAPE)’s charge is to:

Highlight the positive aspects of public education and work with IEA members and the general public.
Promote positive events and activities regarding public education.
Promote positive stories that reflect and honor the work of IEA members.
Produce factual information regarding public education.
Promote campaigns that support public education.
Promote participation in rapid response action to promote public education.
Provide assistance to locals through an equity lens.
Provide the IEA president with minutes of each meeting, make recommendations as deemed appropriate and submit a year-end report.
