Achieving Professional Excellence Program (A.P.E.X.)

The A.P.E.X (Achieving Professional Excellence) program is designed to encourage chapters to participate in a variety of projects, which fall under five main categories:

  • Community service
  • Leadership and membership development
  • Political action and advocacy
  • Professional development
  • General organization and quality

A.P.E.X is documentation of goals achieved and activities conducted by IEA Aspiring Educator chapters. Recognition and awards are presented at the annual state conference. The A.P.E.X committee strongly recommends that chapters wishing to participate select an individual to coordinate all documentation as identified within the rubric throughout the year.

IEA Retired Mentor Program

The IEA Aspiring Educators and the IEA-Retired Program have combined efforts to offer a mentoring program to students who are entering the field of education. This program offers students the opportunity to work with a retired teacher in a mentoring relationship.

Keith & Mary Lou Hauge IEA Scholarship
The IEA Aspiring Educator awards three $1000 scholarships. The application process is relatively easy and the $1000 can be used for almost any educational need identified by the recipient.

Mini Resume
During the second semester, our office will ask students who are graduating to complete a mini-resume form. The information is then compiled and distributed to superintendents in the state of Illinois. Former IEA Aspiring Educator members have indicated that they have received numerous calls for possible teaching positions based on the information on the mini-resume form.
