IEA calls for continued cease fire in Gaza

SPRINGFIELD – Illinois Education Association (IEA) President Al Llorens issued the following statement in response to the conflict in Gaza:

“The Illinois Education Association (IEA) supports a permanent truce in Gaza, the release of any hostages and a resolution to the ongoing violence. Both sides have agreed to a four-day truce and a two-day extension to that truce. The IEA affirms that the goal of a permanent truce is to put an end to the killing of innocent civilians and an end to the suffering and trauma of the infants, children, women and men of Palestine and Israel. In addition, the IEA condemns the rise in anti-Jewish and anti-Muslim violence we’ve seen here, as well.”
