WHAT: Bourbonnais Education Association (BEA) members are leading a community rally this evening.
WHY: BEA members have been on strike since Thurs., March 4. The Bourbonnais Elementary School District 53 Board of Education (BOE) so far has been unwilling to negotiate and there are no bargaining dates set at this time. The rally will focus on encouraging the board to come back to the table so Bourbonnais students can go back to school.
WHEN: Tues., March 9 at 5:00 p.m.
WHERE: Parking lot behind the Circle K (655 N. Convent St., Bourbonnais)
The 135,000 member Illinois Education Association (IEA-NEA) is the state’s largest education employee’s organization. IEA represents preK-12 teachers outside of the city of Chicago and education support staff, higher education faculty, retired education employees and students preparing to become teachers, statewide.
