Elk Grove Educators Recommend Candidates for School Board

ELK GROVE VILLAGE – The District 59 Education Association (DEA) today announced recommendations for the upcoming Elk Grove Township Community Consolidated School District 59 Board of Education election. Ahead of the April 4 municipal election, DEA is recommending four candidates for the three eligible seats: Sarah Dzak, Rose Kelly, Patti Petrielli, and Lucas Szczesny.

The following is attributable to DEA President Ann Wing:

“We have decided to recommend Sarah, Rose, Patti and Lucas because of their commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders to move District 59 forward. We recognize our current challenges, and we believe that these four candidates will be successful in working toward positive change. DEA chose to recommend them because they are committed to the community, the staff, and the students of the district. This group of candidates will bring their unique perspectives and will be instrumental in ensuring the board keeps students’ best interests in mind.”

DEA represents 757 members who are teachers and education support professionals within District 59, educating more than 5,800 students.

DEA sent questionnaires to all six school board candidates. The DEA recommendation process included 60 DEA members that participated in various ways. These included application review, interviews, as well as a meeting of building representatives.

Ahead of the April 4 municipal election, DEA will also be participating in get-out-the-vote efforts.
