The purpose of the SCORE grants is to encourage early career members and their local associations to collaborate and create opportunities for community service or school projects that are substantive and meaningful.
Below are two of the SCORE grants awarded for the 2015-2016 program. A full list of SCORE grants by category can be viewed on the SCORE page.
New Trier Dance Division
Johannah Wininsky’s Dance Lab II class at New Trier High School is getting ready for its performance on June 2 and 3 at the Hamlin Park Fieldhouse Theater in Chicago. With a little help from an IEA SCORE grant, the class did everything: design, choreography, costumes, performance, publicity, theater rental and lighting. The experience is totally professional! Congratulations! Johanna Wininsky is in the first row, far left.
CG Buddies
“CG Buddies” at Cary Grove High School has been connecting students with special needs with each other and with mainstream peer buddies for two years. The club was created by Speech Therapist Tammy Jauch and is funded in part by the IEA SCORE grant program. CG Buddies provides a welcoming network of friends for special needs students who sometimes have a difficult time connecting with peers. Students and their peer buddies meet, visit restaurants and local attractions, go to movies and otherwise engage within the community. CG Buddies was recognized at the District #155 Board of Education meeting on April 19. Tammy Jauch is third from right, holding the SCORE check.
