In this course we will introduce the collective bargaining process and the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Act. Participants will learn about the collective bargaining process, related law, the language of bargaining as well as what bargaining subjects are mandatory and permissive.  We will also review several ways of organizing your bargain using checklists.   We will also discuss key documents related to bargaining and an overview of the key components of a collective bargaining contract.  Lastly, we will introduce the distinctive styles of bargaining (traditional, interest based, affinity).  We will also briefly discuss the concept of bargaining for the common good.
