Carbondale Education Association supported the I Can Read Program of Carbondale, providing tutoring and reading recovery for students in grades K-5.

Decatur Education Association continued the program called Breakfast with the Best, providing breakfast for community members who are willing to take time out of their day to come have breakfast with the kids.

Frankfort Teachers Association launched a school “Living History Project,” inspiring students to research, connect and interview people in the surrounding communities, who stand as living testament to historical events.

Greenville Education Association used the grant to bring the Illinois Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry back to Greenville for needy families of Bond County.

ISU Non-Tenure Track Faculty Association supported Fix It Friday, a program at Illinois State University in which students majoring in the Fashion Design and Merchandising (FDM) program set up sewing machines on campus and in various locations within the surrounding Bloomington-Normal community.

Local Education Association of Dundee (LEAD 300) funded the cost of making plaques for business owners that donate wood and supplies to the Hampshire High School woodworking program. The plaques will be made by students in the HHS woodworking class.

Litchfield Education Association assisted a local church and its Pantry Pals program to provide bags of food for students on the weekends.

New Holland-Middletown Education Association funded a free Christmas shop for low income parents to choose gifts to give to their families.

Ogle County Education Cooperative helped sponsor a 5k run/1 mile walk in honor of a teacher and her son who passed away in 2016.  Proceeds from the 5k/walk are used to grant a scholarships for future teachers and mini grants for teachers.

Ogle County Education Cooperative provided baskets of food to local families, HOPE Shelter and Serenity House.  The families received food items including non-perishables and meat, clothing items, household necessities, personal hygiene products and food staples to provide healthy, balanced meals.

Pekin Elementary Education Association helped students at Washington Intermediate School purchase supplies so they could make fleece lap blankets and small care packages for area nursing home residents who do not have families to visit during the holiday season.

Pontiac Education Association contributed many items to a Fall/Holiday food drive at Pontiac District #429.

Robinson Community Unit Teacher Education Association helped support and initiate a school based Big Brother Big Sister program at Lincoln Elementary School.

Shelbyville Education Association supported a multidisciplinary project called Remembrance Wreaths, placing live wreaths made through the school’s horticulture course at the grave sites of veterans within their community cemetery.

Support Staff Association (West Chicago D33) partnered with WeGo Together Community Market, a school based food pantry, to purchase items such as cleaning supplies, paper products and feminine hygiene products that are not readily available to distribute to families.

Sycamore Education Association provided supplies for the Sycamore High School Empty Bowls Service, bringing awareness to food insecurities in their community.

Urbana Eduation Association partnered with the local Champaign County Habitat affiliate to provide high school students the opportunity to volunteer monthly at local builds.

Western Education Association conducted two food drives district wide for the Barry Food Pantry that services many of the student families.

Arbor Park Education Association funded Homework Help, an enrichment program where students are welcomed and supervised by staff after school to complete their homework assignments.

Association of Plainfield Teachers funded a vocational program “Job Interviewing Tool Kit” to assist high school students with special needs be successful in their efforts to secure part-time employment.

Belvidere Education Association funded a one-week campaign to reduce distracted driving in their community.

Carbondale High School Association funded the second annual ‘Backpacks for Success’ program which benefits elementary and high school students who are unable to afford backpacks.

Decatur Education Association supplied 4th-6th graders with basic hygiene kits.

Eagle Ridge Education Association funded a community visit for 4th-8th grade students to the Figge Art Museum.

Homewood Education Association used funds to build and stock Little Free Libraries at two district schools.

Homewood-Flossmoor Educational Organization supported the the Early College Awareness/Post-Secondary Planning Program in its mission to support parents and students in 9th and 10th grades with information, knowledge and resources vital for success in high school, college admission and post-secondary.

Indian Prairie Education Association partnered with Camp Manitoqua for a one-day service learning project.

Kaneland Education Association partnered with the Sugar Grove Park District to start the Knight Writer’s after school club to get students involved in the writing process with an authentic audience through a school newspaper.

Lansing Education Association assisted 20 parents and guardians of girls participating in the Girls on the Run program in paying for the race fee and transportation costs.

Lexington Education Association created a Makerspace, that includes a Mobile Makerspace Cart, within the PreK-12 school district building so students and community members have access to materials and resources to collaborate, create, invent, and learn together.

Lexington Education Association assisted the Backpack program at Lexington schools, supplementing the local food bank’s assistance to families who are struggling to make ends meet.

New Athens Teacher’s Association, in conjunction with CESNA (Church Emergency Services of New Athens), provided identified students in need with weekly Blessings in a Backpack, a bag of food to take home for the weekend.

Oswego Education Association partnered with the Oswegoland Park District to assist the Collaborative Physical Education department to create meaningful relationships, in- and out-of-school, social interactions, and responsible community involvement for high school students.

Prairie-Hills Elementary School District 144 Education Association supported the Art Society, an after school group, in its mural making project.

River Ridge Education Association assisted the Cats Care Committee in its mission to support the personal needs of students, including access to food, shampoo, soap, deodorant, towels, shower facilities, etc. The committee also wants to teach students how to care for themselves including how to do their laundry and providing them with laundry soap, dryer sheets and the machines to do so.

Rock Island Education Association helped fund the startup and program costs of a club, organized by students, that will work to empower and engage young women.

School Association for Special Education in DuPage County (SASED) supported the start of a Girl Scout troop to benefit students with hearing impairments that do not have opportunities in their communities to join other troops because communication is limited and challenging.

Southwestern Educational Support Professionals Association created five sensory resource kits for the special education vans that run within the school district. These are utilized by students with special needs to help ease the time during the rides to and from school.

Springfield Education Association sponsored a workshop for students called The Peace Within to connect them to community resources about work/life balance and become more aware of how to problem solve.

Westmont Teachers Association assisted the Agriculture Club at Manning School in its partnership with the Dupage County Farm Bureau to educate 3rd-5th grade students about the agricultural world around them and its direct impact on their lives.

Yorkville Education Association hosted a “books and breakfast” event that encourages family reading where children and parent(s) read together.

Carol Stream Education Association funded a Family Fun Night where students, families and staff interacted during activities such as an Open Gym and an ice cream social.

Clinton Education Association funded the necessary materials to host social events for families of students with disabilities from their school’s Instructional Self-Contained Program.

Collinsville Education Association assisted the CMS English department and local library to make Family Reading Night 2018 an enjoyable and successful event.

Education Association of Fox Lake IEA-NEA sponsored a Family Reading Night for students, parents, and community members at the Lotus school.

Galesburg Education Association members led four workshops throughout the year for kindergarten parents to teach them ways they can help enhance and support their child’s literacy skills at home.

North Mac Education Association funded a guest speaker for a community night to hear more about choices and address issues associated with bullying, violence and substance abuse.

Oak Lawn – North Palos supported the North Palos School District’s Life Skills, Education, Achievement Program family night to foster relationships between school staff, students, parents, and community that are not traditionally applicable to the population within a public school. Palos Hills Park District was included as well.

Schiller Park Education Association #81 partnered with the Schiller Park Community Library, conducting events and activities in a cooperation with the community library and school district, including the Bookmark Contest, Cultural Reading Nights, Polish, Bulgarian, Spanish Parents’ Clubs, etc.

St. Jacob/Triad supported the expansion of Family Health and Fitness night by hosting two separate events, one in the fall and one in the spring, providing exposure to multiple community organizations that promote health and wellness.

Canton Education Association funded a raised beds gardening project at Lincoln Elementary School.  The project utilized the Fulton County Ag in the Classroom program to present educational information to the students that introduces and instructs gardening, plant care, harvesting, etc.

Johnsburg Education Association supported the SEED club at the Johnsburg High School in their effort to start funding a greenhouse at the high school as a further connection to working with community members such as the volunteers of the McHenry County Conservation District on an environmentally sustainable project.

Shawnee Education Association helped high school students visit Touch of Nature at Little Grassy Lake. Lessons begun in the classroom including community and cross-curricular components are further scaffolded through active participation outside.

Westmont Teachers Association assisted Westmont High School to expand production in their school garden to support the People’s Resource Center (PRC) with nutritious produce grown locally, enabling more access for high school and elementary students to learn about soil, water, and land use practices.  Students also will learn about self-reliance, sustainability, composting, and organic gardening.

Belvidere Education Association supported the creation of an elementary computer science coding club.
