Professional Development Request for Proposals IEA Summer Leadership Academy 2021

Step 1 of 4

25%
  • The Illinois Education Association’s Summer Leadership Academy (SLA) 2021 will be held over 2 weeks – July 19-22 & July 26-29, 2021. We are requesting proposals for your 2021 SLA Schools and/or for 2021 SLA Elective Offerings. The deadline for RFPs is March 24. No submissions will be accepted after this date.
  • Provide the session description to be included in the conference brochure (please be brief, to the point, and interesting). The description should accurately reflect the content and purpose of your session. It may be necessary to edit descriptions for use in the conference brochure.
  • Please indicate Elective or School.
  • With a virtual 2-week format we have some flexibility in the school schedule. Please provide us with your ideal school schedule – Week, date(s) & time(s). For example: Week1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 8:30-12noon each day OR Week1 M-TH 8:30 – 9:30 am each day & Week2 M-TH 1:00 – 4:00 pm each day.
  • Since SLA will be held over 2 weeks this year, we are a little more flexible on the dates for your electives. Please indicate your preferred date(s) below. We cannot guarantee that you will receive these dates but we will do our best to assign you based on your preferences.
  • Please check all that apply to your session.

  • Professional Development Activity Summary

As an ISBE approved professional development provider, IEA is required to keep records of each professional development activity that awards renewal PD Hours, including an Activity Summary that shows the relationship between the content of your PD session, specific relevant standard(s), and at least one of the following criteria established for PD activities:
  • - Engages participants over a sustained period of time allowing for analysis, discovery, and application as they relate to student learning, social or emotional achievement, or well-being; or
    - Aligns to the licensee's performance (evaluation); or
    - Includes outcomes that relate to student growth or district improvement; or
    - Aligns to State-approved standards; or
    - Are college courses.
  • Generally speaking, health-related, mandated training topics do not align with the professional development purposes outlined in Section 21B-45(h) of the School Code and do not count for professional development hours. However, if a provider can ensure content is robust enough to align to the criteria, and topics address student learning and school improvement, professional development hours may be awarded.
  • Professional development activities must be aligned to one or more of the state approved national standards for professional learning promulgated by Learning Forward Standards. Select ALL of the standards that align to the activity for which PDHs are being requested.
  • Select ALL of the activities that apply to the program for which credit is being requested:
