As Hurricane Harvey continues to bear down on the Gulf Coast, we know that many members of our union family have been affected by this devastating, historic storm; in fact, estimates are that in Texas, as many as 30 percent of NEA members may be impacted.
NEA is working hard to raise funds on behalf of our sisters and brothers as they begin the slow and excruciating process of rebuilding their lives financially and emotionally. NEA and the NEA Foundation have created the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, and your support of this fund is incredibly appreciated. Click on the link above, which takes you to the NEA Foundation page and scroll down a little. There you will find the specific Hurricane Harvey fund.
The money received in this fund will be given out to members by the state affiliate in the state affected.
In addition, NEA Member Benefits’ partners are offering special assistance to members in need and NEA has compiled a list of resources for members affected by Harvey. Please visit the NEA website for more information and other resources related to the hurricane and relief efforts, including resources to help children understand hurricanes and cope with the aftermath.
