On the eve of the 163rd IEA Representative Assembly, the four declared candidates for governor of Illinois addressed the IEA Board of Directors meeting at the Sheraton Grand Chicago (#2017IEARA).
The four, Madison County Superintendent of Schools Bob Daiber, State Sen. Daniel Biss (D-Evanston), businessman and philanthropist Chris Kennedy and Chicago Alderman Ameya Pawar, addressed the board individually, each speaking for a few minutes about themselves and why they were seeking to replace Gov. Bruce Rauner.
Each then responded to questions from IEA President Cinda Klickna on the subjects of protecting the rights of working people and fixing the broken education funding system.
Invitations to address the meeting were sent to all declared candidates for governor. Businessman and philanthropist J.B Pritzker has said he is considering entering the governor’s race but has yet to formally declare his candidacy.
The Illinois Primary Election will be held March 20, 2018.
