The IEA and NEA were a strong presence this year at the U.S. Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI) annual conference, Feb. 16-19, in Chicago. The conference has become the premier Hispanic leadership conference in the nation. Over 6,500 present and future leaders representing 40 states are expected to attend events throughout the four days. NEA President Lily Eskelsen is a featured guest.
The USHLI Student Leadership Series attracted over 3,100 mostly high school students from Illinois and areas throughout the nation. The event included breakout sessions on how to finance a post-secondary education, how to develop life and leadership skills, and a social justice leadership workshop presented the NEA.
